Our lab is currently preparing a proposal for a NSF Research Coordination Network to formalize the loose network of large herbivore exclosure studies in African savannas. The goals of this network are to (1) increase data accessibility by creating an herbivore exclosure database with a formal data request process for data sharing, (2) identify new opportunities for coordinated research and data synthesis for a diverse group of international scientists, and (3) build capacity and opportunity for savanna ecologists from historically underrepresented groups.
If you (or someone you know) works with large exclosure data and would like to be involved, please contact Dr. Emily Wedel by email. Participation does not require that data be publicly available (we are developing a standardized data request process) and does not obligate you to participating in working groups or future collaborative publications.
Among other benefits, ExclosureNet aims to provide participants and data users with:

Among other benefits, ExclosureNet aims to provide participants and data users with:
- A collaborative network of international scientists working across African savannas;
- Opportunities to join working groups synthesizing the impacts of large mammals on vegetation composition and structure across African savannas; and
- A permanent and standardized repository for herbivore exclosure data, including from exclosure studies that are no longer actively maintained.
